BEAM Puts Smiles on Children’s Faces at Zylofone Studios In Campbell Hall, NY

Deb’s Story Here at EyeClick, we speak to a lot of business owners, but Deb’s story is impossible to beat. Deb Major is the founder & CEO of Zylofone Studios, an interactive performing and creative arts community for people with disabilities in Upstate New York. When Deb was pregnant, she and her husband learned that they were having a baby with special needs. As soon as their son was born, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. From an early age, Deb learned that music and dance helped her son thrive and better understand the world around him. Deb could not find a place to send him to teach him about music and the performing arts, so that led Deb to open her own center for the special needs community to learn about the arts.

Objective

Deb and her team at Zylofone are always looking for new and exciting ways that allow their community of all ages and abilities to achieve social engagement, emotional balance, and intellectual growth. These experiences help provide a supportive and nurturing atmosphere, enhancing their quality of life. Deb is always looking for activities that help people with special needs feel connected.

Kids at Jumping Beans Play Cafe enjoy BEAM

Deb learned about BEAM from a friend and knew it would be the perfect recreational activity to help kids and adults develop social connections, as well as finetune gross and fine motor skills.

Solution and Results After organizing a community fundraiser to pay for BEAM, Deb decided to create a special sensory space room inside Zylofone Studios and put BEAM inside. After soon as BEAM was installed, the device proved to be an instrumental way to help her students connect with each other. BEAM is very easy to use and the product helped to create a safe space that brings joy and smiles to our student’s faces. BEAM is also exciting for people with limitations, for example if they are in a wheelchair, because they are still able to play and participate in the games.
